Throughout the years, patients have been asking us a number of questions, some of which have come up quite often. Here are just a few of the more commonly asked ones, but if there is a question here we have not answered, please feel free to call us to find out more. Perhaps we will even add it to our list here!
Can you show me what my smile can look like ahead of time with imaging software?
We routinely use dental imaging to help our patients visualize the end results of cosmetic and restorative work. By simply asking the right questions, taking various photos of your current smile, and keying in the correct input into the computer, we will generate a graphic image to demonstrate accurately how your procedure will affect your smile.
Do you accept my insurance plan?
Our office is not a provider for any insurance company. Your full payment is due at the time of service. However, we are happy to submit your claim to your insurance company for reimbursement.
What different payment options do you provide?
We accept cash, personal checks, debit cards (Visa and MasterCard), and all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). Please let us know ahead of time if you desire to pay in installments so we can structure an appropriate plan for you. We offer financing through American General which provides one year interest-free. Please contact our office for more information.
What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed?
In case of a true dental emergency, please contact our office voice mail and let us know the nature of your condition. We will return your call as soon as possible, give you helpful information over the phone, and then determine if you need to be seen immediately.
I have a temporary crown in my mouth. What happens if it comes off or breaks?
If your temporary crown comes off or breaks, carefully wrap up the piece(s), place it into a protective container, and call our office to schedule an appointment for Dr. Harter to re-apply it as soon as possible. Under NO circumstances should you attempt to re-glue the crown or crown pieces back into position.
How can I ask Dr. Harter questions directly?
We encourage our patients to have open, direct communication with Dr. Harter. Therefore, he is available to answer your questions weekly by email. You can also give us a call at (352)873-1335.
What makes you different than any other dental practice I can visit?
We can provide you with the best set of custom dentures that will eventually make you feel like you have your natural teeth. We go out of our way to learn the latest denture techniques so that we can provide you with the most advanced procedures and materials possible.
When you become a patient of our practice, we think of you as a person, not just another set of teeth to fix and clean. Our goal is to help you obtain and then maintain the best possible oral health. So, we take time to understand your dental history and evaluate the best options for your particular dental needs. Plus, we help you understand the whys and wherefores of preventive care through thorough patient education.
I want my front teeth to look better, but I do not want to wear braces. What would you recommend?
Dr. Harter has a number of ways to improve the look of your front teeth without the use of unsightly braces. For slightly crooked or unevenly worn teeth, a bit of reshaping and the addition of porcelain veneers may be sufficient to give them a bright, uniform look. In other cases, it may be necessary to attach ‘invisible’ braces behind the front teeth. We would be happy to talk with you further about the option that best suits your individual situation.
I really do not like visiting the dentist, is there anything you can do to help me relax?
We understand many people have qualms about having their teeth worked on and put off getting dental work done. That’s why we now offer Sedation Dentistry. Sedation dentistry simply alleviates anxiety and puts patients in a sleep-like state, so that little is felt or remembered from the dentistry procedure. In addition, we strive to create a relaxing atmosphere. For entertainment and distraction, we have flat screens in every room. You may prefer soothing background music, also available in all rooms so you can keep your mind on more pleasant things.
